A Clearer Way Forward Starts Here

Life can sometimes leave us feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of what comes next.

Through compassionate, trauma-informed counselling, we can explore what has happened, understand how it may be affecting you today, and work towards greater clarity, connection and meaningful change.

Understanding What Lies Beneath

Life can become overwhelming. Work, relationships, family responsibilities, grief, change, and difficult past experiences can gradually build up until we find ourselves simply trying to get through each day.

Sometimes we cope by pushing things aside and carrying on. Yet experiences that have not been fully understood can continue to affect the way we think, feel, relate to others, and respond to the world around us.

When Life Starts to Feel Difficult

As a result, people may experience anxiety, stress, emotional overwhelm, grief, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, workplace conflict, family concerns, or a feeling of simply being stuck.

For others, difficulties may be connected with neurodivergence, trauma, significant life changes, or experiences from the past that continue to influence the present.

You may know that something needs to change without necessarily knowing what needs to change or where to begin.

Looking Beyond the Problem

Contemporary counselling increasingly recognises that our emotional wellbeing cannot always be understood by focusing only on symptoms or behaviour. Our experiences, relationships, environment, strengths, and the meaning we make of what has happened to us can all influence how we respond to life's challenges.

A trauma-informed and person-centred approach looks at the whole person, not simply the problem they bring into the counselling room.

Sometimes, the more helpful question is not only:

“What is wrong with you?”

rather:

“What has happened to you, what does this mean for you, and what do you need now?”

How I Can Help

After almost 18 years working alongside people with disability, complex needs and their families, I came to understand that behaviour rarely tells the whole story.

My professional experiences, together with experiences within my own life and family, eventually led me towards counselling and a desire to support people in a different way.

Today, I’m a qualified counsellor, Australian Counselling Association Level 2 Registered Counsellor, and founder of Lyra Counselling.

I can support you with:

  • Anxiety, stress and emotional overwhelm

  • Trauma and difficult life experiences

  • Grief and loss

  • Relationship and family difficulties

  • Neurodivergence, including ADHD

  • Workplace stress, conflict and bullying

  • Self-esteem and confidence

  • Life transitions and change

  • Parenting and family concerns

  • Disability-related challenges

ABOUT ME

Terence Moss

Your Counsellor

I’m a Registered Counsellor (ACALevel 2), with almost 18 years of experience supporting people through complex life circumstances, emotional challenges and significant periods of change.

My work has given me a deep appreciation for how our experiences, relationships, losses, stressors, and past difficulties can shape how we think, feel, and respond to the world around us. It has also reinforced my belief that people need to feel genuinely heard and understood before meaningful change can begin.

My counselling approach is person-centred, trauma-informed and strengths-based. I work collaboratively with clients experiencing anxiety, stress, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, workplace challenges, neurodivergence, emotional overwhelm and the lasting effects of difficult life experiences.

I aim to provide a safe, respectful and non-judgemental space where you can explore what is happening in your life, develop greater understanding and move towards change in a way that feels right for you.

Sometimes difficult experiences can leave us feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of what comes next. Understanding what has happened and how it may be affecting you now can be the first step towards clarity and moving forward.
